Wiper: Stalk vs Column Switch ???
I've been researching whether or not it's feasible to upgrade an '84 from a standard 3 position wiper to a delay wiper (option). So far I've figured out both the wiper motor assembly AND the stalk switch are different and have to be swapped. But after looking at a stalk switch it's looking like the internal switch mounted inside the steering column is ALSO different/unique...? Can someone please verify if there are different part#s for the internal column portion of the wiper switch for a regular wiper setup vs delay wipers? This is the switch part that is inside the steering column and holds/mounts the stalk switch. Thanks!

you can install pulse type wipers on your car.
as you have figured out you will need the lever, motor with delay board, & yes, you do need a new delay switch.
you may also need to make some changes to the wiring, nothing too major, just maybe move some of the wires around in the connector.
because you need to change so much on your wipers to have pulse, i thought i would throw this in.
i have never much liked those old style wiper motors.
my old switch was going out anyway so i switched the wiper motor on my car over to a later model car, i think the one i used is from a 91 caprice & got a new switch to match. the newer wiper motors are much better than the old pulse types they put on back then. i had to drill 2 new holes to mount the motor. once the motor was mounted i had to cut the arm that is bolted on the motor to change its angle & weld it back together to get the wipers to park in the right postion.
to do this you would need a motor, switch, & the connectors for the motor. you would also need to get a new universal type washer pump from the parts house.
they put the same wiper motor on a number of other cars, so you should be able to get most everything you need from the junk yard.
there is also some wiring to do to make it work, but i feel it was worth it & i will be doing it to my 84 impala
