Temp & Gas Gauge Jumping
I changed my plugs today, so needless to say I was laying all over the engine and now my temp and gas guage needles seem to jump all around when the car is running and worse when I accelerate. The temp guage eventually shows that its over heated anf buries the needle. I didn't think it even worked before. The car does not appear to be overheated though the guage reads it. Help! What have I done? LOL ! 86 Z28 305 Carbed 5 speed.

Sounds to me like on the tempature sending unit you knocked the wires around and its getting a bad connection somewhere. How bad does the gas gauge jump around? I know mine jumps around a bit, but thats from the gas sloshing around.

The gas gauge may be normal jumping, I just got the car and only put gas in it once but it looks like the less gas in the tank. the more jumping. The temp thing is all messed up stuck all the way to the right at the moment until the car cools down. Where is the thing I need to fix?
Not good pics but is this the temp sending unit? How do I fix it?

I believe the temp. sending unit is in the drivers side head, right up near the front. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

on my old car i crazy glued needles (actual needles) at the ends of the red and 0 on the oil and temp gauges. And my gas works fine normal full and empty but it does fluctuate when you stomp on the gas or brake. I blame that one on no baffles in the tank.
