Installed a non air bag steering wheel in my car, trying to turn the SRS light off
First, I did a but didn't find the info I;m looking for. Here's what I've got. 92 Z28 with an air bag. I replaced my shot steering wheel with a Grant club sport wheel, PN 1470. Looks really nice. I know you're not supposed to install an aftermarket wheel in a SRS equiped car, but I did anyway. And I don't need help with the installation because it is already installed.
Here's my question. Now the INFL REST light is constantly on (of course) and it annoys me. So I figured that I would just ohm out the air bag itself, and install a resistor to simulate the air bag. This way, circut integrity is not comprimised. So I did this, the resistance was 0.9 ohms. I installed a 1 ohm wire wound resistor in the circut, but the light is still on. WFT? I unplugged the battery in an attempt to clean the air bag code, but to no avail.
Do I have to actually plug into the ALDL and clear the code with a scanner? Has anybody fooled the car into thinking the air bag in still installed? I know I can just pull the bulb in the dash, but I really don't want to do that, it seems hack to me.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

BTW, here are some pics of the wheel installed. Note the sweet shift install with my homemade adjustable shift light pill, and the ever popular UL5 radio delete!

isnt there a fuse for the airbag module wich will disable the entire system including the light or just remove the cluster and take the light out. sounds like your doing it the hard way just to get the light to go off. idk good luck
