Climate control smokes when it is NOT on A/C...help!
OK. 1992 formula. When I have the A/C selected on the climate control, everything is fine. If I slide the register to OFF, about 10 seconds later smoke comes from the area.
I already took the radio out to get a better look at what is going on in there but nothing pops out at me as being obviousy wrong.
What should I check?

Car: 1983 Camaro Z/28
Engine: LU5 305 CFI
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: J65/G80/G92-3.23
Check the fan switch(it can be purchased separate from the vacuum control head).I had a similar problem with my '95 Jimmy's HVAC controls.

The fan switch is part of the HVAC control.You have to pull the head unit out of the dash.On earlier models you can get the fan switch separate,I'm not sure on Firebirds after '89.
