rear defrost comes on by itself and wont shut off sometimes
Ok this is a weird one that started right after i brought the car up to a car show. On the way up i noticed that the rear defrost was on and i thought that was weird cause i hadnt turned it on so i turned it off not thinking much of it. 2 minutes later it was on again! This time however it would not let me turn it off. I waited a few more minutes and then i shut it off. Then it turned itself on again!! I just gave up and let it stay on. Anyone got any ideas on this one? Its not really a big issue just annoying.

Nope wont shut off when i hit the brakes. It will only shut off if i turn it off but sometimes it wont let me turn it off and if it does let me then it will just turn itself on again in a mile or two.

Oh sorry didnt read carefully enough. I didnt make the connection bettween hitting the brakes and it coming on. I would have to go out and see. It will just turn itself on when i start the car though so i dont think thats part of it.

I think what Apeiron was trying to ask was, when you hit the brakes, does the light come on, forcing you to turn it off manually. If this is the case, then one of the plugs on the end of the hstch suppor fell off. The rear defrost is grounded on the hatch stut via a little stake-on at the end. If you loose the ground, then this is what happens. Chect the ground connections I mentioned. It is possible one came loose as it happened all the time on my old 86 camaro.
