Aftermarket Digital Dash for Firebirds

I was wondering if anybody knows who makes and aftermarket digital dash for firebirds other than a GM unit. Would a Camero gauge panel work in my bird? ANy info would be greatly appreciated.

Dakota Digital can make you a set of digital gauges from the analog set you already have. If you don't mind the price and the turn-around time (60-90 days). You can send them your ready-to-install instrument panel (including bezel and plexiglass lens) and they will replace all of the insides with their digital gauges. The package comes complete with sending units and speedo pick-up. The one I have in my 92 RS looks good (almost factory look).

I have seen others with a set by Nordskog. I looked them up and found a universal build-to-fit kit which you can put in any car and have it look good. Senders and speedo pic-up are also included.

the only bugger about the nordskog is if you have a t-5 transmission.. thier speedo pickup sits loose in it so you have to do a little fixing of it to make sure everything sits snug. I have the camaro version.. and it does look nice. although the instructions for which wires to use do not work all the time.. I know the cluster wires in the camaro were completely different colors than what they said they should be.

I didn't have to worry about the speedo pick-up since the VSS signal on my Camaro comes directly from the ECM. Dakota Digital did a good job of identifying wire colors for each signal, but we still looked them up in an electronics manual for the vehicle to find the correct connector the wires were in.

Hmmm, that's a pretty cool option.

There was also a digital gauge set for 'Birds mentioned in another thread about a month ago. Made by one of the companies that does KITT stuff, but it is not a KITT-correct looking dash. Looks pretty awesome, but costs $1500!

yea. if your car came with the VSS alrady that will make your life alot easier. and everyhing does work great.. I would go with a Dakota Digital setup over a nordskog.... i have one of each, and the Dakota Digital Is IMO 100 times better looking, and overall works much better (common problem on the nordskog is the reset switch breaks during shipment making it impossible to actually calibrate it until you get the bypass thing from them (solders onto the 2 prongs and uses a momentary switch to trp it)
