hard to start, but does start
On my 85 camaro I put in it a 305 tbi from a 89 camaro. I replaced the wiring harness on the engine and under the dash. (basicly rewired the car from front to back) I also replaced the vats module key and ign. cyl. I also had to replace the oil pressure switch. What my question is why is it still hard to turn over? I don't hear the fuel pump relay make it's little noise before it starts eventuly. I don't even hear the fuel pump kick on then kick off after 2 sec. Do I have a bad fuel pump relay or can someone shed some light on this one for me. Please help, This is the last thing that is driving me crazy. I get this problem fixed I will be completely done with this car, so I can drive it.
Could it be the fuel pump itself?????? It's from the v-6 that I pulled out of the car before I put the 305 tbi in it. could it be that the fuel pump not pushing out enough pressure for the tbi???? when I do get it to start, then when I shut the car off I do hear the fuel pump run for about 2 to 3 sec.
So can someone give me some input on this one?????????
Thank you in advance for any help!

From what i've heard the V6 and V8 thirdgen electric fuel pumps are the same.
it doesn't really seem like the fuel pump is the problem. Seems like wiring. The fuel pump should not be on at all when the key is shut off. Which means the fuel pump relay should not be activated when the key is off. Your fuel pump relay wiring is probably not right.

when it does start the fuel pump stays running for about 2 to 3 seconds after you turn the car off. It doesn't stay running. The problem I'm having is that you can't hear the fuel pump prime the system when you first start the car like you should. I think I have pin pionted it down to the ecm, it my be bad. the wiring is all good, I checked that. The fuel pump relay is new as is the oil pressure switch. But you still don't hear the fuel pump come on to prime the system or hear the fuel pump relay make it's little click to turn the fuel pump off until it starts.
Let me know what you think? This is the last thing I need to get working right, so I can drive it.

Hey firebat, it was the ECM, I bought a new one tonight and it worked. Thanks to all the advice guys. Now my car is almost ready to go through emissions here in Arizona, just got to get my new exhaust this weekend. I will let you all know how that goes.
