Dark Green Wire?

What is the dark green wire that comes out of the drivers side harness supposed to be for? Mine is cut, and I can't seem to find it in the wiring diagrams. Everything it suggests might be it -- works...

I hope someone knows.
If you do - could you let me know??

Thanks!
-Chris

I have a green wire going to a sensor on the block, not sure if its a CTS or maybe for the fans. Also if it runs past the engine it may be for the horn possibly.

My horn does work, (both the high, and low note) So I guess it could be for a sensor?

I just recently dropped in a 350, and I've got it all just about final. This is bugging me though. I thought it might be the oil pressure thing, but there is a brown wire going to a connector that fits it. However, that gauge doesn't work, so maybe the green one goes to it? I doubt it...

Also my fan is belt driven.
Pardon my ignorance, but what is a CTS?

Have you thought about the temp sending unit for the instrument panel?

CTS is a coolant temp sensor.

Coolant Temp would make sense, that gauge has never worked for me. However, the sensor looks like it needs two wires to hook up, and this is just a lone green wire. Is there a way to test if this is the correct wire for the temp sensor?

I'm trying to find a schematic for that, but haynes isn't helping much, nor those links to the autozone site.

I've found the wire on the wiring diagram, and I think it is, indeed the coolant temp wire for the gauge, so I'm going to try to mess with it, and see what I get. Thank you so much for that! I'll let you guys know what I come up with.

For whatever sensor it goes to, I believe it just slid right on. The top of the sensor looked like a "T" and the sensor pushed right on from the side.

Unfortunately mine's been cut.
I didn't even notice it was there, because it had been tucked into the loom. I came across it on accident basically.
So I've stripped a bit of the insulation off, and I'll see if I can rig it. I have what I think is the sender unit in my intake manifold, and that's where I'm going to try to connect it.

The coolant temp sensor sends information to the ECM and has two wires going to it. The coolant temperature sending unit for the gage is located in the drivers side head above the #1 sparkplug just below the exhaust manifold.and looks like this.

Now that little guy is a bit difficult to get to!
What would be the 'proper' way to connect this? wrap it on real tight, and heat shrink it? I don't have a connector anymore...

Is there something we can do for Trickster?
He's always giving great information and advice, and for what? The thanks? The feeling of doing good? If I could man, I'd like to give something back to you for what you give everyday. Thank you!

P.S. Since I don't need the ECM CTS, is there a plug or something I can put in there, instead of having a sensor sticking up out of the manifold?

Junk yard then cut the plug off. Not really much else you can do, I wouldn't risk it falling off over a piece you can snag for free.

Here is a mspaint of how that wire mounts to the temp sending unit. As firebirdjosh has mentioned, go to a junkyard and find a wire and then splice it on there. The dealership still sells those plastic covers in boxes of ten. The wire harness itself has been discontinued.

If you are referring to the plug for the CTS in the intake manifold, you can take the sensor to a auto parts store and get a plug to fit in the opening.
