10si alternator in 1991 camaro wiring..

Hi,
I did a search, but I am still a little unsure how to wire the older 10si or 15si alternator into a 1991 camaro (v-6 mpfi originally) harness. I have a volt guage in dash (not the light) and I don't want to ruin it by miswiring anything!
The batt post should go to +batt or Starter selonoid(?).
The #1 terminal goes where?
The #2 terminal goes where?
And do I need a resistor between the alt and the guage?

(I pulled the mpfi v-6 and installed v-8, old school style, with vee belts, etc. no computer)

thanks

Okay man, old school style.....

The big post that says, "BAT", goes to battery + or the other end of that battery cable where it bolts to the starter solenoid. It doesn't matter.

The no.1 wire out of the two wire plug is supposed to go to the "gen" or "alt" light on the dash

The no.2 wire out of the two wire plug can loop around and bolt to the "BAT" terminal.

A few notes:
first: You MUST find the idiot light in the dash to hook wire no.1 to or your field won't flash until hits a fairly high rpm. You should have a light near the volt gauge.

second: you can buy the correct plug for your alternator at most auto parts stores for a few bucks, so do it. Don't use some crappy old plug that you cut off the donor car. You're just cutting your own throat.

third: I have done this swap many, many, times with great success on everything from forklifts to semi trucks, so don't be afraid! It's easier than it looks. ( I got the wiring schematic for the above hookup from a 1985 GMC school bus wiring book )

Thanks!

So does the guage read from a source other than the alternator?

I'm pretty sure that the gauge just reads from an ignition "on" 12 volt source. Probably the same feed wire that feeds all of the gauges when the key is on.
