Here's a good ECM question

I have an 86 305 V8 Carb and was told by an automotive shop my computer was acting up and I needed a new on. I got one from TA creations in Miami. I went to there web site and it shows I should be using 01227165 for my computer. I pulled my old one out of my camaro and there is a 01227169 in it. I can not find that number as an original computer. I did a google and found it as a used part for 86 Camaro or Monte Carlo V8 Carb. Can someone tell me WTF is going on. I think the 7165 is the correct one but don't really know now. Thanks
Tony

And here is a good answer to your ECM question. The 1227169 computer that you have in your car is the correct computer for a 305 V8 carburated engine. The 1227165 computer is for the 305 V8 MPFI engine. If you will go to WWW.rockauto.com and run your car through you will find what I am talking about.
