Track battery disconnect switch.. on pos or neg cable?

Which cable should I put the battery disconnect switch on for putting my battery in the back? I'm going to be doing it tomorrow I believe and need to know which cable to put the switch on.

It'd be easiest to put it on the negative cable because I wouldn't have to run any extra cabling. The switch will be behind the license plate. I know everyone always says to disconnect the negative cable when doing work on the car, so I guess it'd make sense to put it on the negative one.

On the flip-side, the positive cable is the one that goes all the way to the front of the car, so I figured that would be good to put the switch on that one.

Either way, if someone could tell me, that'd be awesome. Thanks guys.

You'll need to connect the switch to the Positive cable. If you connect it to the negative it's basically pointless. Your car will still run without it connected. Hope that helps.

Oh yeah, got any pics of your switch installed? I'm collecting them to make an aticle on how to install them behind the license plate for future reference.

I doubt it, try starting your car without the negative battery cable being connected. I was just curious since its always said to disconnect the negative cable when working on your car...I figured ya could just put the switch in the negative cable.

I don't have the switch mounted just yet, I have to figure out how I'm going to. All I know is that I want it behind my license plate which I have the flip-down bracket for.

your car will continue to run with the ground cable disconnected. ONCE it's running, that's the point of a kill switch in the back, make sure the alternator positive wire won't supply enough voltage to keep the engine running. it goes on the negative as per the rule books.
