Break lights don't work

exactly, my break lights don't work. my back lights, and all my lights work, but once i hit the break, the lights don't get brighter, or the break lights won't come on, what gives? i took it apart to see what was up, and found one light was burnt out, but after changing it, they still don't work. any help? it's an 1983 crossfire.

check the brake light switch by the pedal under the steering column. Its threaded into a bracket. It could be broke in helf like mine was when I lowered my column. looks like this, broken one on top new one on bottom.
