lol there was this little switch under my steering wheel that never did any thing when i turned it on and off and there were loose wires under my dash so i went to clean them all up and found this.... looks like one of the past owners of my car didnt want it to get stolen and went so far as to put a talking alarm system in it...lol check out the pics below.. im glad i got all that junkout of there.

also notice my non grid style tail light on the right side of my car...last owner must have busted the old grid style one and didnt put another grid style back on to replace it and used an older style one... lol one more thing i need to fix:lala:

yeah my previous owner had an alarm on the car and i always wanted to know where it was. Anyways since my car was involved in an accident i have got another shell and have been swapping everything over. Needless to say I found it. I guess all alarms are under/around the steering column. /learn something new everyday/

LOL. I would disconnect the battery and then reconnect it. See if that resets it. Im not good with alarm systems though, never messed with them.

yeah alarm systems were designed to not be bypassed that easily, if its a newer alarm i would bet that a code of some kind is in the alarm and needs the remote to clear it. In other words disconnecting the battery won't work. If you have the remote no problem but like many other thirdgen purchases a full working alarm system with remote(s) is rare. So your best bet is to look for the alarm box(es) under/around the steering column. Another tip is to look for wires that have been spliced and ran off your lights and they should go to a box of some kind, and disconnect that box. Or if you know your fuse box at all you can find the alarm fuse by ruling out the ones you know/ or you can just pull wires.

take the plastic cover off under your steering colum.. thats what i did and carefully sort and folow wires that dont look like they are suposed to be there and you will eventualy find a black box or two of an old alarm system.... also i have those 3 boxes as seen in the pics, is there like a speaker or a siren some ware now that i should look for that would sound off if this thing actualy worked? im just happy i dont have that clucter f?ck of wires in there any more to look at:lala:

follow the yellow brick...sorry, follow the wires!!! look for wires spliced off lights/starter/heck maybe even an extra + wire off the battery might be power for the alarm. Look for the boxes around the steering column and like z28monster hinted the alarm wires are probaly newer and can be picked out from the less then desireable quality wires gm used back in the 80's...

z28 monster do you have pictures of your boxes? how many are there and do they have a brand and model number on them? that would tell you what kind of siren you have. If its a newer one then they have a fail safe if the power is cut so it would be in a easy to instal area/in the engine bay. If its older It would probaly be tucked away on the bottom of the firewall.

If anybody wants to get rid of a siren (working), I'd take one for my car.

hello to all. I will give you my experience with alarms. the disable box is usally wired into the hot through start wire that controls the starter selnoid (if it fails to turn over) or fuel. if your vats has not been tampered with the add on alarm uses a relay to power this wire. look under the dash or outside for a relay that is hooked into the factory harness. follow the wires each way and verify that they are the same color and reconect them as the factory had them. if you are unsure fuse them before you try to start the car. i think the wire was purple for the 92 but dubble check to be sure. hope this helps.

There is a slot under my steering wheel for some sort of immobiliser "key". It has a red led next to it.
It doesn't work though.

I decided not to rip it out as it isn't doing any harm just sitting there (at the moment) and I didn't want to potentially cut something I shouldn't...

If it works don't fix it!!! I was refering to those who could not get started with aftermarket alarms. some of the stuff may be vats stuff and you don't want to mess with that. I take it everyone got started?

if I had an alarm already installed and it worked but my remote didn't work I would go get another remote before I start ripping out wires.
