window won't roll up or down
My passenger side window will only roll up or down maybe a half inch at a time and it takes atleast a couple minutes each time to get it go go up or down more. Is it the motor or the regulator or what? Common problem?

Probably the motor, usually the window tracks get dry and the motor works harder. Make sure you lubricate the mechanism after replacing the motor. Changing the motor is a PITA and use caution. Follow a service manual when doing it.

I am having the same problem in my 91 gta. My passenger window kicks out after only a few seconds of moving up or down. At first i thought it was the wiring, but i tested it and juice is going to al lthe wries. Does anyone have instructions on replacement and a place to purchadse a nmew motor?

It's a mojor pain in the ***. Seriously, I'de rather do anything else but change the motor. My advice is to just take it somewhere to have it done and save yourself the agony.

I sepnt a good hour bending and squeezing the upper heat shield on one of my cats to gewedge it out from the top of my cats so it would stop rattling, i think i can deal with changing a motor out in my door.
Nothing a nice afternoon and a beer couldnt help

what can one expect to pay for a motor as well as to have someone replace it....i don't get alot of time to work on it anymore and just want mine fixed as well so i'm looking for a good ball park of what to expect.

well the motors are cheap around 55 to 65 bucks with a lifetime warranty.
i takes about at maxium maybe 1 and a half hours with all the tools and doing by your self. i except a quality professional shop to not charge more than 100 bucks.

well ended up paying 100 exactly after most shops wanted an average of 150-300.
started to do the work myself until i got into having to deal with the springs and scissor pieces. what a piece of work that design is. anyhow needless to say my window never moved so fast now that i replaced the $44.89 motor but my wallet wasn't happy having to pay $100 for install and another $50 to have my window retinted after they scratched it up working on it. i thought my drivers side window was fast until i replaced this one....damn gm, i don't want to have to replace another one for some time.

I have replaced the window motors on my 92 TWICE! Both times the windows slowed down and stopped. Wait a few minutes and you could get it to move a few inches. If it was raining, I was in trouble... Anyway the first time I bought the motor on E-bay. I had to drill out the original rivets and replace with bolts. It was a real PAIN!
The second time took about 45 minutes. DO NOT TOUCH ANY OF THE BOLTS/RIVETS HOLDING IN THE WINDOW OR MECHANISM. I drilled access holes in the door panel so that I could get out just the motor screws. The new motor fit right in without a problem.
I got the motor from Checker or Autozone. But it had a lifetime warrantly so if it goes bad again, I will just take it back!!!!

I just want to know if there is any way to tell if it is the regulator or the motor. No sense in replacing the motor when that's not the problem. I have new switches ready to install, so I will try that before I do anything else.
