I hit a pothole and my radio and power locks die

What happened?
I was driving during night itme and i hit a pothole and the radio died as well as my power locks. the gage and everything else inclusing the power windows work though

ok i changed the fuse and everything works again. Why would it blow up when i hit the pothole though?

a positive wire probably came loose and grounded out, causing excessive current flow.. enough to blow fuse.. probably.

You may have a wire somewhere in that circuit that has been rubbing on something metal for long enough that the insulation has worn through.

That was the case in my 87 a year or so ago when the dome lights, radio, etc fuse would blow randomly while driving. It took some time, but eventually I traced it to a wire bundle running above the fuse block. The bundle had rubbed against a metal edge for long enough that it was creating a short. Reinsulating the damaged wires and covering the sharp metal edge fixed the problem.
