Ignition woes. Voltage ?'s

I'm in the middle of a V6 to LS1 swap and have stumbled upon some ignition problems. Now as far as wiring the LS1 I believe I have got that figured out, but the cars original wiring has been hacked up alot. First, I drop the fuse block and discover that it apparently had been replaced before. Every single wire was spliced with some butt connectors. Some wires have fallen out of their connectors but most are still intact. No big deal, I can handle that with some solder and heatshrink. Its just more of a dissapointment than anything. I should have looked over the car a bit more, considering that it wasnt running when I bought it.

So on to the real problem. After checking wires for voltage, I found that the big purple wire at the c100 connector gets no voltage when I turn the key to start. Which is funny because I think my key is not turning far enough to start. When I turn the key it feels as if the shifter is not in park, but it is. So I test the wires at the shifter (purple and green/white), no voltage. Should there be? Also it appears someone has been fooling with the starter relay (maybe the relay is bad), pic. below. So, can someone please lead me in the right direction as far as where I should be seeing voltage in the ignition circuit. Or does it sound like something is either wrong with the Pass-Key or steering column?

Also, I do get voltage to the injector wires, so I'm thinking the Pass-Key/Vats has nothing to do with my problem.

This is my first big snag for the swap, and its a shame that it has nothing to do with the LS1. If theres anything I left out, let me know. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Fuse block: Oh boy.

Pass-Key : Oh yeah, what pin does that green wire go to?

Okay, that green wire you are asking about goes to pin "B" of the starter enable relay and pin "A3" of the VATS control module. That purple wire goes to two locations. It starts at pin "E" of the P/N switch and has a wire spliced into it that goes to the 3 AMP fuse on the fuse block marked "CRK". The second wire in this spice goes to pin "B4" on the bulkhead connector and from there to the small post on the starter solenoid marked "S". You also have a purple wire at pin "C5" on this connector that goes to the Wiper/Washer and another one at pin "E7" that goes to the Transmission Converter Clutch.

Somebody sure didn't do you any favors with that wire job did they.

Thanks alot Trickster. Do you think that green wire is the source of my problems, coupled with the starter relay? For some reason the green/white and yellow wires are spliced together. I'm gonna dig the starter relay out of the IROC and see what happens. Only thing is, the 86 does not have VATS. Which is no biggie, but I wouldnt mind having another car to look at.

Also, whats up with my key not turning all the way over? I just dosent feel like the 86, but who knows.

Yeah, some Moron got ahold of this car and went to town. After he was done the car sat for a couple of years and a Rat called the car home, and decided to munch on some wires here and there. Someday it will be back to par.

That would be a good place to start. Somebody tried bypassing VATS by jumpering the wires at the starter enable relay. As for the key not turning over all the way, it could have something to do with the ignition switch or the park/neutral switch, or the lock cylinder is messed up.
