Rearview Mirror Wiring Help
I recently purchased a Gentex auto dim mirror, w/ map lights, temp sensor and compass. I have some questions about where to splice some wires into.
Pin #
1. 12v Hot w/ Ignition On
2. Ground
3. Backup Lamp Supply Voltage
4. Temp Sensor Signal
5. Temp Sensor Return
6. Interior Lights Switched Negative Feed
7. 12v always hot
Ok, I know where to put a ground and the 12v. Plus the temp sensor signal and return. Those are no biggies. But what would be a good place to splice into for Ignition On #1, Backup Supply voltage #3? Also, what the heck is the Negative feed #6? Where would I splice that into?

ok,
1......... I like using the radio power feed, its easy to find, just tap the radio fuse in the box, it is 12v key on and accs.
3......... You will need to tap the wire going to the back-up lights at the rear, the wires run along the drivers side door jamb, at the bottom of the door on the inside, not sure which wire, use a test light to locate
for 6 and 7, the wires to the dome light are what you want, they are orange and white, one is 12v constant and the other is neg. switched(door jamb switch)

#6 is the white wire coming off the light switch.
#3 is the light green wire in console at base of gear selector
#1 - check your fuze box there might be a place to put a spade terminal in that will give power with the key on. If there isn't any spaces on your fuze box the brown wire coming off your ignition switch is the one you want. Make sure you put an inline fuze on this wire as well as the #7, 10 amp would be plenty.
good luck

Thanks for the help guys! I can't wait to get this thing wired up.
I never thought that the backup lamp supply voltage would actually mean backup light. I thought it was a backup power source. LoL.

I'm guessing but because that is a self-dimming mirror that if it were dimmed and you put it into reverse it will un-dim so you can see where your going.

I'm sure you'll be content with your purchase. Had I known you were looking to upgrade, I would have recommened the **** self-dimming mirror with compass and temp. Installation was a snap: ignition feed and ground, along with a temp probe which runs from the front of the car.

Lets bring this back from the dead.. shall we?
Ok, this is what is going on now. The little amount of time I had to work on stuff, its been a while but I have the mirror finally functional. Works great, except for one hitch. The negative feed for the interior lights. It doesn't matter which power source I have it connected to, when I close my car door, the map lights come on instead of going off and vice versa. I can't seem to figure this one out. Anyone have any clue?

You know, I never even tried that. I am very sure it does the same thing with the passanger side door because of where I spliced the wires (right next to the dome lamp).

I am bringing this post up again because I still can't figure out why my rear-view mirror map lights are staying on when I open and close the doors.
At first I thought it was because I had my 12v line to a different connection other than my dome light, but that wasn't the case. It doesn't matter if I have my #6 and #7 wires installed in either order at the dome light. If I open my doors, the light goes off, if I close my doors, the light goes on. What gives?
