Running a "Hot" wire for my points dist.

I have a 1985 Camaro Z-28 that i've been tinkering with now for over six months.
But let's get straight to the point. I need to know how to wire the Hot lead for a points distributor. I have the coil and the grounds hooked up already I just need to know a location that I can run a hot wire for it. I'm doing this because I want to ditch the p.o.s. computer; plus my HEI dist broke... Any help would be appriciated; I just want to be able to drive my baby again!!!!!

Use the 14ga pink wire that lead to your original coil-in-cap. If, for some reasong you don't see it, it terminates at the bulkhead connector at the firewall next to your brake booster. It's the only heavy gauge pink wire in the harness.
Why a points dist ?, if you don't mind me asking.

I changed to points because I had problems hooking up a non-computer controlled HEI unit; I figured that it would be easier to put a points distributor in. Stupid me.. lol I bought a mallory unilite.

What problems did you have with a non-computer HEI? You can get a whole new setup for around 100 bucks--includes everything. All you have to hook up is one power wire and the plug wires.

When I hooked up a Non-CC HEI unit it didn't spark. I mean nothing. And the coil, and cap were fine.

I've been able to run a hot wire since i've posted this and it's *almost* running; the contact on the unilite cap was busted off so I purchased a new cap today. HOPEFULLY it will run tomorrow with the new dist. cap. It sputtered and ran for about 1 minute yesterday, but then refused to spark. So i'm putting the blame on the distributor cap. Have to see what happens.

Sounds like the ignition module in it was either dead or not plugged into the cap/had a bad wire.
At least your getting closer to having a running vehicle either way

you're probably right now that I think about it. I'm guessing now that the module was probably burnt out. Because I know the wires were fine for the CC distributor. I had it running with the computer controlled distributor but didn't like the Idea that the timing curve was set by computer for a 305 and I now have a 350. I was probably too quick to jump to conclusions, ran out and bought something that I thought would solve the problem. . . Find out tomorrow when I get a chance to install that cap.
