Should I Get VATS?
Has anyone installed the VATS system into a non VATS vehicle around here? Looked around and couldnt come up with anything... I want to see if its possible to install VATS in my 84 T/A. i saw someone selling an ignition tumbler and VATS computer on ebay... but are there any other components?
I know... people have thousands of problems with VATS and everyone hates it but ive never had a single problem with it in my 91 RS. Anyway, any help or comments are appreciated.

The VATS system is a very simple system. The chip in your ignition key produces a certain amount of electrical resistance. The VATS computer measures that resistance, and if its the proper amount, it enables the fuel pump to be turned on when you start the car. If someone tries to hotwire your car or use a key with the improper amount of resistance, the VATS computer will not allow the fuel pump to be turned on. Hence, the car doesn't go anywhere.
Anyway, your car is carbureted and has a mechanical fuel pump. VATS only came, and only works, with fuel injected cars that have electric pumps.
