multi-function lever "loose"

on my turn signals, when i try to push the lever partially down just enough to change lanes, (turning left, right still works good) it doesn't work every time. i have to push it all the way down to engage the signal. also on the wipers, when i try to rotate the switch for "mist", i have to rotate it really hard. i've heard of some springs in there, but don't know if that's the cause, or how in-depth this will be to fix, as in if half the column has to come apart... any help appreciated, as always...

No, the column shouldn't have to come apart. BUT you will have to take the steering wheel off, and depending on your application that can be an adventure all in it self.
