wanting to install a low oil pressure idiot light
hey guys... i want to add a 20psi low oil pressure idiot light in my car to compliment my gauge. summit sells kits for like $35, which seems awful rediculous since i am sure i can get replacement senders from the local store for a few bucks, then its just some wire and a light.
my question is... can anyone reccommend a oil pressure switch to do it? i know some 3rd gens only had idiot lights, but not my car. what year 3rd gens came with idiot lights and what PSI do they kick on at?
i also wouldnt mind doing the same with an oil temp or water temp warning light if someone has some ideas...
dash lights are cool.

I think every year (least up to 89) could have the idiot lights... it was the non-optioned gauge cluster. I know my 87 6cyl had them. The prob is, I haven't ever seen them on an 8cyl car... and I don't know if they are interchangeable.

you can do this by installing a sender for a light, not a guage.the difference is a guage sender will have a variable resistance to ground, while the light sender will only show ground when the oil pressure drops below a certain value(5-8 psi,i think). mount your bulb ,connect 12v from an ignition source to one side of bulb terminals, the sender wire to the other terminal.hope this helps.
