Heat Guage

I was wondering how to go about fixing my heat guage. The needle points straight down and I dont know where to start. Any tips or ideas?

temp gauge you mean?

take off the cover and move the needle-- make sure it's not stuck

sometimes when starting the car the needle will PEG either up or down and get STUCK

this happend constantly with my 87... if that's not it, make sure the sender's wire is connected, it's on the driver side part of the engine, and sort of near the bottom. I think it should be a GREEN wire.

If that's not it, you may need a new sender, i think.

I took out the clear plastic peice that covers the guages. Now I just have to tap the needle and it reads correct.
