86 Iroc Guages - Metric or U.S. Help ?

I bought an original 1 owner '86 Iroc Z. I just noticed that the guages are kind of odd. The oil pressure guage numbers are 0-200-400 and the temp guage numbers read 40-105-125. These seem to be metric guages. I spoke to the original owner and he assured me that nothing has ever been changed since new. Could this be possible? I've attached a picture if anyone thinks they could help me. Thanks! Bill

The speedometer goes to 85 mph and 140 km/h
The tach goes to 70 and redlines between 45 and 70
The fuel guage has a picture of a gas pump and has only round symbols for empty, half full and full. (No words)
The amp guage reads 8-13-18. This seems to be U.S.

P.S. I can email pics of my speedometer, odometer, fuel and amp guage. I can also provide the vin number. Check out this picture and see what you think.

It's a metric cluster. The Speedometer goes to 140 km/h, the oil pressure gauge is in kPa, temperature is in degrees Celsius, you don't have an "amp gauge" it's volts, and a volt is the same anywhere, even in the benighted U.S.

Is a metric cluster common for an '86 Iroc sold new in Pennsylvania?

Probably not. How sure are you that it's a one-owner car? Do you have the RPO list?

I'm sure it's a one owner car and I have the original bill of sale, a copy of the original title, the window sticker and the complete RPO List still on the glovebox lid.

Yeah its a Metric cluster. I'll do you a favor, send you my cluster from my 86 IROC thats is standard, and you send me your Metric cluster. I wont get confused.

Actually, I'm going to look for one on EBAY, right now.

Welcome Aboard!

Thanks guys,
This has been fun decoding all these numbers except a few. I double and triple checked, and the RPO codes I have listed here are correct and the ones I can't decode are also correct.
This car is really odd. It seems like the odometer doesn't correctly fit the width of the opening for the numbers. I'm absolutely positive that's it's the original cluster. Anybody see anything rare or odd in any of these codes as to why the metric stuff? Check out the attached picture of my odometer.
Thanks! Bill

That's not a metric speedometer face in the picture. If it really is original then you might have some kind of dealer-ordered screw-up. The metric gauges from from the Z49 Canadian export package, but you should have NM5 Canadian emissions controls with that instead of NA5 federal emissions.

Here are a couple of codes I was missing.

B2G Components Of Iroc-Z Package
D6F Gear, Speedometer Driven
E7Z - Sensor, Vehicle Speed - Delete
Z31 - Advanced Price Sheet, Canadian Models

I think this car was possibly made for Canada and was imported to the USA and sold new here. It also has the engine heater.
That still doesn't explain why the numbers don't fit in the opening on the odometer. I just got off the phone with the original owner and nothing has been changed on this ar since new except tires, plugs and plug wires. It's still got the original brake pads, exhaust and 23,299 original miles.

the original us spedo only has room for 6 digits, you have 7 there. the dealer probably put on a us face and left the metric odomoter in there.

thanks

Thanks anthony,
That would explain why the numbers don't fit correctly. I knew someone would have the answer. Bill
