Flickering high beam..help
Hi,
I had/have a problem with the high beam, in that after about two minutes of having high beam on, I get a disco on/off effect high/low beam. I have changed all 4 bulbs today and it still does the same thing. Is there a relay that I need to check, or is there a problem in the stalk. (I only found one related issue on search, and it is inclined to be a problem on the stalk?)
Thanks,
Paul

does the high beam indicator in your dash also go on and off? if it does it could be your high beam switch, located under the driver side dash right near the steering column. its attached to a metal wire going to your blinker arm that activates the switch. mine was in need of adjustment because sometimes the switch wouldnt click if i didnt have my tilt wheel all the way up. this thread may be able to help you out, i dunno

I didn't notice if the high beam indicator flickered or not. I'll check when I can. If we assume for the moment that the HB inidicator stays on, are there any other reasons, like a bad earth maybe?

My brother's camaro had some problems with the headlights, and replacing the bulbs didn't help either. It turned out one of the contacts as loose on the connector on the back of the bulb. If it's not the switch/wiring, you might want to check that. Although I have a feeling it's probably the switch/wires. Just be careful when you remove it not to let the rod that goes up the steering column to fall out. I accidently let that happen when I replaced my ignition modual (you have to remove the high beam switch to get to it) and now I don't have high beams anymore.
