alpine tv monitor
i got one of the alpine head units with the 6.5" lcd screen, and in order to watch movies these two wires have to be hooked up....one to the foot brake, one to the e-brake. is there a way to bypass this, maybe throuh a switch somehow?
thanks

Trick the system
The guys at a local stereo shop down here in Austin have told me that you just have to pull in the e-brake a "few clicks", or basically if its not exactly in the rest position you can watch dvds... lots of navigation/dvd systems will only let you watch navigation while driving, but dvd only when parked.... you can get a ticket for driving with dvd playing, but if a cop pulls you over for that, just switch it to navigation real quick, and then when he accuses you, tell him that it's impossible, you had it installed, and that he must be mistaken...

The foot brake wire needs to see +12v and the parking brake wire needs to see a ground. But with the Alpine units, you have to send voltage to the wires in a certain order. If I remember correctly, the foot brake wire has to see +12volts,then the parking brake wire needs to see a ground(while the foot brake wire is still seeing +12v),then the 12volts to the foot brake needs to be interupted. You can hook up two toggle switches: one to each wire. The toggle switch to the foot brake wire will be connected to a +12volt source and the parking brake wire will be connected to gnd. Flip the 12 switch on,then flip the gnd switch on,then the flip the 12v back off,and the screen should come on.
