Fireball ignition problem

Well I bought a Crane Fireball ignition box. Cool right? Up until it was time to reset the timing. The car dies immediately when I unplug the bypass. If I take the box out of the loop it's fine. I even tried different coils and still the box seems to be the problem.. What the hell is the problem? Faulty box or poor wiring?
