Check engine light on acceleration
I have a 1989 formula with 305 tbi.
First the problem:
On acceleration (not hard acceleration, only when I'm taking my time) the car seems to miss and the check engine light comes on. It does not do this all the time and only seems to do it when the car is warm. The car runs fine with the check engine light off but runs like it's missing when the light is on. The light always goes off when I shut the car off for 20-30 seconds and start it back up.
Sometimes the light goes off by itself while driving.
I checked the codes and came up with a code 43 and a code 53.
I also put new wires, plugs, cap and rotor on the car and timed it.
I'll continue to check the archives but any help is appreciated.

Look in the FAQ section on the board to ID the codes. 43 is low voltage at the Electronic Spark Timing circuit, which is the module in the distributor. Check the power connection to it - it gets power through the large pink wire going to the coil from the engine harness & through the small pink wire going from the coil to the module.
