How EZ Is It To Change The Gauge Lights?
Hi Board. I'm considering purchasing the MacEwen white face gauges and installing his Xenon bulbs. Do the bulbs just insert into a socket or is there soldering involved. They would be going into an 88 IROC. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome to the board! On my '86 IROC, you just take out the eight (I think) screws in the dash panel, then there are a few more hex-head screws underneath that. Once you get the layers off, you'll see the bulbs... they just push right in. You might have a hard time getting them out of the deep holes they're in. I used a piece of rubber tubing, but an actual bulb puller might work better.

Changing the bulbs is MUCH easier with the cluster out of the car. I changed them with it in the car and I broke a couple in the socket. Removing the gauge cluster only takes 10 minutes and it also makes the white overlay install a LOT easier when you've got the gauges on a work bench instead of in the dash. Anyway, once the whole cluster is out, the sockets simply turn 1/2 turn and come right out from the back.
