PED connector?
I lifted out my ashtray this afternoon and I saw a connector that was just laying near the shifter boot. Its labelled "PED" and has a few letters on it corresponding to wires connected to it. Could anyone tell me what it could possibly be for?

Well, I was thinking that, but the connector is unplugged and I have the power windows/power mirrors and they're operational. I looked on the net and haven't been able to find anything..

Its not the light for the shift pattern or the console light? Does your e-brake trigger the seatbelt light when you have it in gear (auto only...i think) It might goto the cig lighter, but i don't think its that long. If it doesn't affect anything don't worry about it.. but i am sure you are just curious.

PED has nothing to do with the wires, that just denotes that it was manufactured by Packard Electrical. The most likey scenario is that you have a 5-speed, meaning the empty connector is for the P/N switch used only on automatics.
