alarm system problems...viper.

i just got a car a little wile ago and i am not really sure how the system works/what sets it off, etc. i was driving down the road and it went off. how'd that happen? it wakes me up at like 5 in the morning going off, the car is always in my garage. whats up. today i got new batteries for the remote and that helped turning it off quicker but i still need help.

here's what i know, when armed it blinks repeatidly, and when not armed it blinks three times the pauses then goes again.

was the viper system stock on my car/ was it an option?

viper alarm currently installed in your 91' bird is not factory equipment. it is an addon installed after the car arrived at the dealership.

remove the underdash trim panel on the drivers side and look for a black box held in place with cable ties or electrical tape. that's the alarm brain, will probably have a model number stamped into it. to disable, remove the power fuses or remove the connector from the main unit.

the thing with it going off while you are driving it might have been in the mode where its set off if is hijacked. But then it shouldnt start after that.

Maybe its as simple as the switch that tells when your door is open or closed is going bad and sends the alarm wierd signals.

I love my viper 800 alarm, I have the motion sensor too, it is pain in the *** to set the sensativity, but besides that (all alarms are like that) I love it.
