Wondering

There is a black box with yellow wiring coming out of it...i was told it has somthing to do with the air bag system. Its located under where the switches are located. I dont have power windows or hatch, there is anouther wiring harness in there too, Its black with three connections inside. was wondering what that is? I drive a 1992 RS

If you are referring to the device with yellow wiring in the console, near the glove box, it's the SIR (supplemental inflatable restraint) system arming sensor. There is also another SIR sensor foreward of the arming sensor, behind the radio, which is the passenger compartment discriminating sensor.
