Radio Whinning??????????????WTF

Ok, I installed a system in my 89 Formula. No problems there. I have a SONY 746 amp, 2 12" SONY EXPLODE SUBS, SONY 5000X DECK, MEMPHIS Passive EQ, oh yeah I have a cheep BoSS amp for my mids. It sound damn good with the exception of the DAMN squeeling noise in the radio when the car is started. I have tried noise filters, checked and run new ground wires, run a new set of Phoenix Gold RCA jacks and I even went as far as running them on the other side of the car away from the power wires. SO WHAT THE HELL can ANYONE HELP ME???????????????????

Any info would be useful.

Thanks I DRAG 2

Did you put the filter on the EQ's power lead to see if that might put a stop to the noise? Any EQ that i've ever had in any of my vehicles has always made a lot of racket.

Have you tried muting the amp to see if the noise goes away?

Sounds like "alternator whine".

If the sound (whine) is stronger immedately after starting the car, I would imagine that that is because the alternator is working harder (more output) to recharge the battery, and will gradually reduce its output once the battery is charged.

The problem could be many things. I would start by checking all the electrical power connections that your sound system has. Are they all clean and tight? Do all of the devices (head unit, amplifier, etc.) share a common ground point? Does the positive feed go directly to the battery positive terminal? I would not connect anything to the factory wiring, and use separate wiring (of proper gauge) for the power.

Mine used to make noise too after I instaled my amp. But I didnt put the kind of filter that goes onto the power wire but one that come in the form of RCA jack that I put inbetween the RCA line from the deck to the amp and the noise when away. Pretty cheep too!
