Seat Belt Light

For the past 5 months or so now, that annoying "Fasten Belts" light comes on and never goes away. It doesn't bug me to the point of insanity, just wondering why.
It stays on all the time when the car is on. I did get a grace period for about a week, then it lit up again.

Any ideas?

The switch is probably broken. There is a wire under the driver side floor board that you can unhook and the light will never come on again.
