I understand there is some sort of "tach filter" equipped on our cars. What do I do to cure my tach from acting like it's on crack.

One thing you might want to look at is the wires coming off of the coil (not the coil wire itself). Make sure that there are no cracks or anything wrong with the wires. I had one of the wires from the distributor to the coil that had a cut in it and you could see the wire a little bit. This little bit of exposure caused my tach to jump around all over the place. Replaced the wire and never had a problem since. This might not be the problem but I hope it gives yous some direction to go in.
