Cooling fan coming on at 110 degrees. Please help!!!
I have a 1992 camaro with a single cooling fan. I replaced the coolent temp sensor yesterday because the fan did not work at all and now the fan comes on at 110 degrees.
When I was tightning the sensor I heard something crack. Could I have ruined the new sensor? Also I had to replace the wiring to the sensor( original owner cut it). I wired one wire to the green and white wire and one directly to a ground on the car, Did I wire this up correctly? I believe that it now runs all the time. Please help!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Jody

the cure-all for fan activation problems & allows you to set the activation temperature wherever you want. I run them on all my cars and never have a problem.
You will need to use a relay with this to supply battery power to your fan.
good luck

Car: 1998 Camaro Z28

If your car is an RS VIN "E", the coolant temp sensor has one yellow wire and one black wire. Green/white wire sounds like fan switch or A/C pressure switch in which case the black wire is to ground. Where is the sensor located that you replaced?

You did wire up the switch correctly to the dark green / white wire - sounds like you need to replace it, again. in a '92 VIN E setup, the fan is controlled by the thermal switch in the passenger side cylinder head (fan on above 238 F), the A/C select switch (fan on when in the "MAX", or "NORM" positions), and a pressure switch (if you have A/C), located on the liquid line (dark green / white & black wires) - (fan on above 232 psig). Grounding the dark green / white wire turns the fan relay on when ignition power is applied.
Matt_Ky, the temperature sensor you are referring to is the coolant temperature sensor for the ECM & does not control the fan in the VIN E configuration.
