Just wondering if its possible or not to create a one wire CS alternator like the older style alternators could be converted to?

Sure can! Go to www.alternatorparts.com, you can purchase the AC Delco self exciting voltage regulator for about 50 bucks. One thing though, you need to be a little handy with a soldering tool to work on these units. I have rebuilt quite a few and there are a few tricks. You might consider a complete unit if you have not worked on one.
