Do I have to splice?

I know you gotta ground the wire going into the fan switch for the fan to turn on.

Im going to go buy a switch and some wire (What kind of wire? .) So I can turn my fan on manually.

Now do I have to splice into the wire? Can't I just take the new wire I buy and wrap it around it??? (I know you gotta remove the plastic stuff to get to the bare wire)

Sorry Im really bad at electrical stuff.

Thanks

I posted this in the cooling board, this clearly was the better place to post

You could do it that way...just make sure and use some shrink tubing to seal it all up nicely.
