QUICK! Where is the flasher unit in my car???

I've been looking high and low for the flasher unit in my 1989 IROC-Z 'vert all morning. According to the Haynes book, it's supposed to be at the rear of the fuse box. It's not there. Am I looking at the wrong place or what? Please help!

I found it. It was hidden next to the radio and the A/C controls. Anyways, I replaced the flasher unit, and they STILL DO NOT work!!!

Here is how it goes. The harzards lights work fine, they flash. The turn signal do not flash, they just stay on. I checked around the car when the turn signal is constantly on, all the bulbs lights up. What the heck is making the flasher not flash?!? Please help! Going nuts!!! [ ]

Check for a bad bulb in the system - if it's not the flasher, it's usually caused by a bulb - front or rear.

Remove the flasher unit that you changed out & see if the 4 ways stop working. If they do, you changed out the 4 way flasher, instead of the turn signal flasher.

I went back to the turn signal unit and tested it. You guys were right, I accidentlly put the turn signal flasher into the hazard flasher slot. Anyways, I found the right place for it and it STILL doesn't flash! I checked the bulbs up front and they were fine. I couldn't get to the back ones because one of the bolts that the wingnuts are one basically became part of the car. Can one single bulb cause both sides to go out or does it mean there is a bad bulb on both sides? This thing is still driving me nuts!

1 bad bulb would only affect 1 side, 2 bulbs (1 on each) would yes kill your system.
I would recommend checking your flasher again... make sure you've got the right one, or the connection isn't still loose or something.
Just because the flasher fits and the dealer says its the right one, don't mean squat

Heres something weird.....

I had an 88 Grand am a couple of years back that had problems with the flashers...

all the lights lit up, but they still didnt flash.

I changed the actual bulbs anyways, and guess what! They worked!

I dont know if it was the actual bulbs or not, but maybe the connections were loose or something..
