How does TCC work?

Here's a question. I am putting in a new aftermarket computer in the IROC and I want to keep TCC and Cruise control. I think in reading about cruise control, I have that figured out, but Im not sure what sensors still need to be hooked up to the stock ECU to have it continue to lockup the TCC.

What sensors does it read, or what is the logic that it uses to engage or disengage the TCC?

TCC lock / unlock control is based on vehicle speed and TPS position. The ECM may also need the input from distributor, as well.

Primary control for TCC lock is VSS, coolant temp and reference from the TPS. If you are running a 700-R4 don't overlook this detail. Without TCC lock you will greatly reduce transmission life. Most experts on the 700-R4 will tell you this.

OK, excellent. If its the VSS, TPS and coolant, I can piggyback those sensors with the new computer.

The distributor could be a real issue however, if it needs that input. I wont have one anymore as the new computer does all the spark work from coil packs. Im just putting a drop in shaft in place so the oil pump will still run and thats it.

Thanks for the responses so far.
