Radio Shack is crap. They are phasing out their electronics stuff, and only selling consumer electronics like computers/stereos, etc.
Like I said in that other post, check out the MAXIM website and request a sample for creating a prototype. Or find a real electronics store.
PS. If you're looking for a cheap 68K devel board, check out the Handy Board from MIT or at http://www.technologicalarts.com/tframe.html

I've only got one MAX232 on hand, but I've got a handful of MAX233's that'll probably do better for you. Easier circuit, don't need caps. Heck, if you want, I'll put one of those interface gadgets together for you on a PCB. Should have enough spare parts laying around. But that's really AKM's area, and I don't want to take away from that.
Anyways, if you want to build an ALDL adapter, I've got some PCB layouts and parts that'd be good for a MAX233-based design. Just lemme know offline if you're interested and I can probably help out, save you some time & $$ maybe.

I found a company finally that sells them for $4.50. I am going to order them tonight. I already have the stuff on the board, so I am just waiting on this chip to finish. But thanks guys.

By the way, you don't really need the MAX232 to do serial comm. The two-transistor device does well enough. Check my website for three different schematics on how to build an ALDL interface.
By the way, I don't know where you're getting your MAX232, but you're getting reamed royally. Try jameco.com, they have em for $1.95 a pop. They've got the 233's for $4.95.
Anyways...
Might want to read through some of the old messages, this has been done a bunch of times.
If you decide to do the 2-transistor device, it can be done for less than 5 bucks with off the shelf stuff from Rat-Shack...just a thought...
