Re: Houston, we have reflash... PCM reflash tool
has anyone tried this software with the tunercats dealer kit?
http://www.tunercat.com/obd2/dealerkit.html
On pcmhacking.net it is claimed that tunercats uses the AVT-852.

Re: Houston, we have reflash... PCM reflash tool
Hi!
For a long time I've been looking for XDF file for 2002 12212156 operating system. There were mentions of such a file being in development but it never surfaced...
I went ahead and made this XDF myself, so I'm sharing it with you as it makes the LS1flash software much more useful.
Now, I'd be glad if anyone would be willing to share any info on 1999 PCM reflashing and XDF for editing, then we'd have tuning software for all 1999-2002 cars.
XDF is tested and working properly, hovewer I take no responsibility if something goes wrong and you brick your PCM!
Naming convention matches Efilive for easy cross reference of parameters. It's best to use Parameter Category view for this XDF.
You can select between metric and imperial units by selecting level view in Visibility Toolbar:
Show Only Level 1 - Metric units,
Show Only Level 2 - Imperial units.
In version 1, only vehicle speed is selectable between KPH/MPH with above option.
For this XDF to properly calculate checksums, you must first save attached "512Kb PCM OS Checksum Plugin.dll" file in the C:\My Documents\TunerPro Files\Plugins folder.

Re: Houston, we have reflash... PCM reflash tool
I have performed some testing on the 411 flash software. I know this is an old thread but hopefully this will spark some interest back into the software. I took a junkyard 411 PCM and read the bin off it. I then reflashed with a 2002 full OS then the calibration. Of course it bricked. I then jumped the address pin and did a read on the bin. There were 3750 differences between the original 12212156 file flashed and the bin read after the brick. When the bricked bin is checked in tunerpro, it still shows the OSID of the original V6 bin before flashing the new OS. If you reload the original bin back as full flash, then reflash the cal, the pcm becomes operational again. I am attaching the bin files and xdf files if anyone wants to see the differences. Maybe dimented24x7 will see this post and look into the problem. The software works great for editing the calibration. it hiccups on some PCMs doing the full flash.

I learned the hard way it's cheaper easy and less stress to just buy the HPTuners (cheaper) or EFI live tuning package.
I tried all these different methods, and by the time you buy an AVT cable, use the DIY homebrew software and brick a PCM or 2, you could've bought a much more stable program and been done with it.
I went through 3 PCMs with Dimented's program, bought the flash programmer to fix them with new chips, had the same problem again and gave up.
Much happier with HPT and I don't have to **** bricks every time I flash thinking its going to kill another PCM.

I understand your situation. It is pretty easy to unbrick the PCM so far. Open the software, hit connect and jump a ground wire over to one pad, PCM responds and click start flash mode. Here is a video showing the pad to ground. Hopefully you saved those PCM's you "bricked".
