Datalogging dies immediately

Datalogging dies immediately
I've read, I've searched, I've watched the videos.
Configuration:
16197427 - Out of a 1995 5.7L suburban,auto - BJYL cal.
I am using the following files: 0099 BJYL.bin , A217_0D_v250.ads, 0D.XDF
Brand new Moates APU1.
Switches are to the right (8kbaud) , left (apu1 mode) // I've tried left, left too.
Turn the key to "on"
Upload the bin to the emulator, (I can click verify too, it always verifies)
Click "start emulation"
Turn key to start, engine runs.
Click "Acquire data"
Everything populates on the dash once then stops. Then nothing updates again. There are no errors reported. See screenshot.
(NOTE: The "DA Not Connected" message is there because I hit disconnect and then took the screenshot. I assure you it says " DA Connected" and remains that way. Same thing applies for emulation.)
Questions:
Why doesn't it work?
Do I need to use the ALDL cable when emulating and data logging simultaneously? If so this may be a problem as my vevicle does not have an ALDL connector. I'll need to know what pins on the supplied connector go to which wires on the PCM directly.
How can the APU1 run the car with no PC attached? I expected the PC to be providing the values through USB cable to the APU1 to the ribbon cable. Is that not how it works?

Re: Datalogging dies immediately
Although the AutoProm directions say you can data log and emulate through same ribbon cable I have never tried and always use the data log cable to ALDL port with no problems.
Before you hook up cables to car plug AutoProm into USB port with both switches in. Then open TunerPro and if you have preferences set correctly it will find it. Then set switches according to what your doing and plug in cables, load bin, verify, emulate and start car, then connect data.

Re: Datalogging dies immediately
Well I tried using my old COM cable (12V 2-wire USB/Serial) which used to work well, and it's only updating MAP and O2.
I still can't get the APU1 data monitoring working, even when I attach A and B to ground ans F9 respectively.

Re: Datalogging dies immediately
You lost me? Why are you using an old COM cable (12V 2-wire USB/Serial) ?
I thought you had an AutoProm? Hook up ribbon to PCM and cable to ALDL...
On old C3 ecm like 1227747 red stripe on ribbon goes to inside of ECM.
On C4 PCM like 16197427 red stripe goes outside of PCM.
Red stripe goes to pin 1 side with notch.
Is this a conversion? Maybe a wiring issue?
HTH!

Re: Datalogging dies immediately
Because for whatever reason datalogging is not working with the APU1, regardless if I'm using the ALDL port or not.
It's on a IH 345. I've been driving it for almost a year without a tune. Inital data logs looked ok, rich on the top end. But there was hesitation until it got warm. That's what I was hoping to fix.
I can program the emulator, and I'm familiar with pin1. If I had it wrong, I couldn't program it.

Re: Datalogging dies immediately
Well if you emulating and turn key on CEL should come on flash once fast and stay on till engine is started then go off, so we know emulation is working correctly.
Getting data from 16197427 comes from pin F9 on PCM, some wiring diagrams say tan most are orange and goes to pin M on ALDL port. All 8192 Baud is pin M. 160 baud from old C3 like 1227747 goes to pin E. Most ALDL cables have a jumper inside to connect Pin E and Pin M so data can flow from either. But I don't know what would happen if serial data was on wrong pin like conversions of 1227747 ECM to 16197427 PCM in cable, if there's any difference.
Then pin A of ALDL port goes to ground which should be tied into harness or same ground as PCM on engine block.
Pin B ALDL port white/black stripe goes to A 14 on PCM for DLC codes when you use a paper clip to jump A and B then turn key on to get flashing error codes. Your AutoProm switch in 10K mode is doing same thing.
So if those three wires are connected properly and never been shorted it should work?
