Need help on what programmer to buy

I have a 89 tbi 350 with 305 heads etc. I really want to get into burning my chips so i can tune this thing but it seems every post I find reletive to what I'm looking for it 10 years old. I don't what to start buying stuff based on 10 year old info. If someone can help me with which prom programmer to buy and what prom or eeprom to buy for a tbi car I would be eternally gratefull.. I already have an aldl cable and downloaded tuner pro and some other programs. So I need an eeprom or eprom, and a programmer. Thanks

I was thinking this;

http://cgi.ebay.com/True-USB-EPROM-c...item1c1a96a4fc

But I don't know if it will work or not..

Re: Need help on what programmer to buy

if you plan on keeping the tbi computer go to moats.net and get the burn2 programmer and the g2 eeprom adapter...

that programmer works with the stock chips and the eeprom moates has but its more complicated than the burn2

Re: Need help on what programmer to buy

That will work, the Moates' BURN2 will work well also.

If you post the service number of your ECM the exact EPROMs you need or adapters will be easier to identify.

The SST27SF512 EEPROM is pretty universal in the OBDI GM applications. It's the adapter that will change based on the ECM.

Check out www.dynamicefi.com
He is a member here and you get an all in 1 piece...
With the moates stuff, you'll need something to read / burn chips, ALDL plug to see what the engine says is happening, etc... EBL Flash, all in one...

Re: Need help on what programmer to buy

I dont have a spare 450 though, plus I'd like to be able to burn chips for my other chevy trucks and other people. The moates stuff seems better to me money wise. And the moates link for the burn2 says it can read and burn chips as well as the memcal. Already have the aldl cable as well...

Also on the Moates site there is 2 -G2adaptors one which .60 Leg spacing and one with .45 which one should I use or do I need to measure the legs on the factory chip?

Re: Need help on what programmer to buy

The .60 spacing is the most common. The .45 spacing is usually used in the Turbo Regal/GN ECMs.
