Datamaster and Ostrich and 730 ECM with Super AUJP

I am running a 730 in my car now and have started trying to tune the VE tables. I had downloaded VEMaster and Datamaster last night in hopes of being able to log Datamaster and get hte VE tables tuned in quicker(I'm new so maybe I'm missing something) but couldn't get Datamaster to connect. It says the ALDL cable(Moates) is found, but no PCM found.

Anyone have any tips? I read something about disabling hte extra com port...any other tips.

You might want to try Tuner Pro RT. www.tunerpro.net

Re: Datamaster and Ostrich and 730 ECM with Super AUJP

I am using Tunerpro RT and its been working for the last couple years. VEMaster only works with Datamaster so thats why I tried to use the Datamaster as well. Is there a similar tool to VEMaster that works ofr Tunerpro?

I have VETuner(Traxion posted it a long time back) but I can't get it to work either and I 'think' it only does the WOT PE tuning.

Thanks for any further input...

DM should work fine. Make sure your using the $8D version.
Check the comm port in DM to be sure its correct.
It usually is different than the comm port I use for the AutoProm and TunerPro logging.
You will also get the PE flags etc on the bit display in DM (see docs on S_AUJP)

VEMaster is only for WOT, helps to get you closer faster but you'll still need to manually tweak once your done with it.
Jp

You can make a histogram in TP that uses WB input Vs. Commanded AFR to see where the changes need to be.

Re: Datamaster and Ostrich and 730 ECM with Super AUJP

Quick note,
DM needs to run in "Pass-through" mode with my AutoProm.
Doesn't like the moderated communication.
Could be the same thing with the Ostrich, not sure if you have the switch on the Ostrich to do that.
I have run 2 comm ports at once using the AP on one USB in emulation mode and a serial cable to the ALDL with DM running. Never tried two USB cables.

Re: Datamaster and Ostrich and 730 ECM with Super AUJP

Thanks. Will check. I don't think there are any switches on my old ostrich 1..but there may be a dip switch inside that I don't recall.

See you're stilll online. If you see this...I am having a helluva time getting the WB02 pumped through into my Tunerpro to datalog. I'm tuning in closed loop right now using the NB.

Regardless, I have the pin on the output of my Innovate LC1 going to pin A3 and that bit set in the bin. Running the 1026 Super AUJP file... I have also flipped on and tried both the 'raw data' input as well as the Innovate switch...tried both one at a time and nothings worked. Where should that data output to?

Any tricks? I followed your instructions in another post and haven't gotten anything.

Thanks,
Thanks,

This is the post I'm refering to...

Pretty much that easy if you are using the S_AUJP V4 (1026 version or later).
Physically Connect Output wire to A3 or F14
Set bit in bin file if using "A3" pin, Clear bit for "F14" Pin.
Location 99B (WB OPT 2, bit 7, Input "A3", Else "F14")
Set bit in bin to use the "Raw" output from the WB
Location 99B (WB OPT 2, bit 0, RAW A/D Output)
Select only 1 option for a WB setup.
This "RAW" one is for full 0-5 volt/0-255 count output to the datastream.
If two WBs are selected, the first one wins and you may not get the reading right because it would be scaled for a different WB output.
Confirm your scale within the LC-1 is outputting the full 0-5 volt range that equals 7.35 to 22.29 AFR
To Add the item to your ADX logging definition if it does not already exist:
Open ADX editor
Go to "Values" in the listing and click where you want to insert a new item
Click "Add New Item"
Name it to something you want like "WB Full Range"
Give it a Unique ID value (anything works here)
Type description as desired "LC-1 with full scale output"
Units override = AFR
Packet offset = 0x24 | 36
Source Data Size = 8 bit
Range Low = 7.35
Range high = 22.299

alarms (if you want)
Alarm Low = 12.0, Enabled
Alarm high = 15.0, Enabled
Click conversion tab and click "Set"
Enter this: X * 0.058980 + 7.350000
Argument type = Native
Output Format = Floating Point
Output Digits = 2 (If you only want 1 decimal then make this 1)
Save
Run your car!

I have found that I have to use F14 for WBO2 input.

F14 maybe? That was my next step to switch pins...I'll try that real quick. Thanks!

Re: Datamaster and Ostrich and 730 ECM with Super AUJP

That clinched it! I knew instantly something was up when I fired the car up and the Raw Data readout from Tunerpro flipped to a different number...got the right readout selected and it happily tracked away with the o meter I have on the dash.

On a side note...you saying F12 screwed me up. I put the pin in F12 initially and then as I was sitting there looking at Tunerpro I was thinking 'you know...I htink I screwed up!' lol....

Just giving you crap...its amazing how one slight error in a comment sticks with you even though you know what the right answer is. If it would have fried half the wiring in my car....THEN I would have been crankier! Unlike some people though...I'd have still known it was my fault!

Re: Datamaster and Ostrich and 730 ECM with Super AUJP

Glad its working for you now.
I wonder why the A3 give some people fits.
Maybe older models don't have it working ???
Maybe I can try several different 730s on the bench and see (once I get the computer working on my bench again)
My son FUBAR'd the hard drive last week
