Custom Chip?

I have been having a difficult time smoothing out my idle so I replaced the TPS, IAC and the throttle body and none of those moves work. I have a vac leak somewhere (tried replacing the intake gaskets but no diff) and in checking for the leak I sprayed a lot of carb cleaner which I think damaged my O2 sensor (datamaster indicated damaged o2 sensor) so i replaced that too. Finally I replaced the ecu which is from an 92 camaro and found that I could not erase the chip to load my file. So I thought I would just pop out the chip and replace it the chip from my old ecu. Well I pried long enough on the chip to figure out that it was not made to "pop" out and I damaged it. So the sad story is I have a truck that is running like crap in all areas where it used to have only a rough idle including tons of spark knock and surging. Now to my questions:

1. Why could I not erase the chip in my replacement ECU?

2. Could my replacement 02 sensor be incorrect causing the truck to run in all areas? I just have a single sensor just below by headers. Please see below for the particulars of my vehicle.

3. Why did my original memcal have a removeable chip and the replacement was not?
