issue with TPRT/apu1 data tracing and updating while live emulating

im a bit of an outcast everywhere i go fbody wise...lol i have a 93 formula which means i have the newer body but thats all i have in common with the newer(93 on up) fbodies. of course as you all know its the only newer fbody with a speed density ecu and it runs off a prom chip like your third gens.im sure this has been posted before but ive been doing alot of searching and i cant come up with alot besides what ive already tried. i recently recieved my moates apu1 and quickly got to work doing some simutanious logging and live emulation. i messed around with the scalars, changed the idle up and down, yada yada. when i would save the change it would reset the car while it was running causing it to go into open loop and trip tps and map codes. i would shut the car off and restart it the codes would go away and the changes would be saved to the emulator and the car would be responding accordingly. ive already read where it needs the AA @ 08 is this correct to disable the checksum with my ecu? when i pull up the parameter list in tunerpro rt it labels my checksum as 06->07. ive ran emulation both with the AA and without the AA it nothing changes...still the cough then pops the codes.its quirky but livable i guess, ill just shut the car off before i upload the changes but i dont feel i should have to do that. i also noticed that i never saw a track ball on any of the maps i pulled up while i was running and live emulating.i pull up a table such as main spark, enable datatracing on the header bar, but the A in the map never goes active.(its greyed out) all the data logging looks beautiful. im sure i will eventually figure it all out but if someone wants to clue me in i would appreciate it.

You are correct to disable the checksum confirmation routine with "AA" when emulating or use the built in function in TP to do it.
If you do it manually,
Do not put AA at 06-07 location. That is the checksum value, you need the "AA" to be in the "Mask ID" spot which might be 08 location.
Thats where it is in $8D mask anyway.

Re: issue with TPRT/apu1 data tracing and updating while live emulating

i couldnt find a spot to check or uncheck checksum disable in tunerpro rt. i see where it has the option to not load the entire table and im not doing that, but i cant find anything on checksum. i would rather just disable it via tunerpro rt. just to verify im going into prefrences, then to default xdf and placing the location(08) in the first and (AA) into the second, then specifing the DA3 xdf.unless im overlooking something i dont see the term Mask ID when i scroll through the list that pops up when i hit the f7 key.

ive looked all over TPRT and cant find checksum disable anywhere in the tools/prefrences or mask id in the f7 list.....uuuurrrrgggggghhhhh! its horrible, i know what i need to do but cant find where to do it at! i dont like getting the hiccup! plus i cant get the"A" to light on any table during live emulation even after checking data tracing in the header bar.

Re: issue with TPRT/apu1 data tracing and updating while live emulating

according to this code the id byte offset(location) should be 0x8008 and the id byte set to AA then specify the DA3.xdf in tunerpro tools/pref/default xdf to disable the checksum? can someone please verify this?

Re: issue with TPRT/apu1 data tracing and updating while live emulating

Code:
0x8008 Must be 0xAA or 0xDA, 0xAA seems to disable the checksum.
That is the correct spot.
Select that item and open it for editing.
Enter AA, then save.

Edit: Your bin offset is already set for $8000 starting point in the definition so the address will show as $0008 in the "F7" window

Once you are NOT emulating anymore and the program is done (no more editing), Save the bin (which will update the checksum value at 8006 and 8007) you can put the Mask ID back to "DA" so the checksum will confirm the program is not corrupted when running.

In TP, the checksum disable is in the preferences dialog box, not in the bin editor.

Re: issue with TPRT/apu1 data tracing and updating while live emulating

it had this option in version 4...the checksum disable option isnt in the tools/prefrences in version 5. there is no 8008 or 08 or mask id or engineering byte, ect, location in the f7 menu of the da3.xdf

Re: issue with TPRT/apu1 data tracing and updating while live emulating

and the solution is........drumroll please.........open the binary file via tunerpro rt, go to tools/advanced/hex editor, on line one, cursor position 8 of the hex code replace the DA in the code with AA. this will disable the checksum function in the bin file permanently thus allowing the live tuning update to take place without throwing the codes and putting the vehicle into open loop limp mode. thank you mark and craig
