Check this out guys. Im going to start a new thread so that I can get some feed back and advice. So if you can bear with me, that'll be great. Here is the bin file that I found at http://chevythunder.com/prom_bcc_1987.htm ....

That doesnt look good at all. If thats an 87 Bin file, it needs to be viewed with a different XDF. NOT 6E, but rather $32B.

The guy at hyperjunk di not tell you the whole story, you will find out like I did. Of course the low ° t-stat is to help keep the engine from heating the intake air as much as possible, but thats the obious part of the story, isent it. Thoug you are right, I did not mention it it.

It does make sense with what you said though. Low temps= lower detonation risks. Of course Im going to believe the tech, but there are some bad apples (technitions) out there so your right, the Hypertech guy probably didnt tell me the whole story.

right click on the link and select save target as... then just save it to a place in your computer. You can save it to the tunerpro folder where the other XDF's are.

Much better. Thats correct bin and xdf now. you can start playing with the timing table, as its very conservative at WOT regions. I dont see any extra spark added there and you only have about 30 deg by 4800 where the TPI is starting to fall off. You should look into having 34-36 by 3600-4000. It should bump torque and hp since TPI will peak in the 4400 range.

Your main fueling table now is the BPW fuel vs load LV8 table. Adjust those larger to bring in more fuel, smaller to take out fuel.

You will have to play with it to see. I can show you what i did that worked well for my combo and my buddy's combo. Like a carb car, you have a distributor bring in advance til it hits a max and holds from there. Usually by around max torque helps boost overall power. My bolt on L98 liked max advance in by 2800 which was top of my converter (2800stall) I ran 34 by then and up to 35 at 4800+. Seemed to do ok but ran kinda lean. If I had more time to play with that combo I could have gotten more out of it.
My 383 was the same way, bring in max timing in the 3200-3600 range, and I had a 3600 stall converter. More timing there helps make abit more torque so the car leaves much harder off the converter. Peak torque was near 4000 but held flat to near 4800.

Orr89ROcZ, Sounds confusing because I dont know where to start. I hope you dont too fustrated with me, but Im determined to learn..

Dan0617, sounds good and thanks for the advice on lowering the temp to turn on fans sooner. Ill make the changes then Ill get back to you, I just need to get the hang of changing the S.A. to squeeze out a bit more power.

Yes, now is the time to learn. Is your car running now or is it sitting till you get a tune in it?? If it is sitting, get the adapter from www.moates.net and email me the .bin file and XDF file, I'll change the fan settings and send you the chip to get you on the road. Then you can play for as long as you want with timing and such, and I'll burn you another chip when you are done and email that one to me. No big deal.

If the car is still running ok, then you can take your time. You will find that making changes is easy. Deciding what to change is pretty easy. Deciding how much to change it is the hard part. The best part is you found the place to learn and the best group of guys to learn tuning from.

Amen to that dan0617. Im in no rush right now. Im just suffering a sloooowwww throttle response because Im running my 305 MemCal with my 350, 22 LB injectors. It gets me from here and there but as of right now, she's on jackstands.

PM me or email me and I'll show you want I mean. Basically the last 2 columns in the spark table under LV8 of 192- 208, you make the 2800 rpm or 3200 rpm cell a full 34 deg and all the rpm ranges above that you make the same.

That 87 bin above that you posted, you can see at 3200 rpm it has 22.15 deg. I would make that 32 for starters but try to make it 34-36...or whatever gives max power without detonation or without having timing taken out by the knock sensor. My L98 even running lean was able to take about 34-35 deg overall. Seemed to be peppy and gave me best 60 foots at the track. Be sure that no additional spark is added with temperature offsets or pe mode. I dont see any in that bin but I'd have to check again to be sure.

What bin is that? Make sure you use the right XDF file when viewing the bins. That one is incorrect as well. Probably mismatched XDF file.

You can tell by looking at some of the basic parameters. Initial spark advance, 72 deg? Number of cylinders 0???
Zeros in the timing table at some cells, as well as just random numbers in the timing table from 2 deg to 53 deg in adjacent cells? Clearly something isnt being read right.

Im using the $32B. The MemCal is for a 1987 350 TPI system. I just wanted to hear from the experts if the bin was good or bad. The exported bin is from a MemCal that is going bad. I wanted to "grab" the bin before it really went bad. Every once in a while I would get the trouble code 51. So I extracted it to see if the file was still good. Thanks for the heads up Orr89RocZ.

Try loading up the 6E XDF and see what it looks like. Maybe that isnt a .bin to be viewed with the $32B. Just a thought.

I'll try looking at it myself with the 6E when I get home tonight to see if that is correct or not.

EDIT: I just tried it and it is a no go.
