Bad ALDL Cable?

Bad ALDL Cable?
I'm using an APU1 Autoprom with Tuner Pro R/T and it works just fine for the most part...Datalog, Emulate, Burn chips etc.....
But quite frequently I lose my signal while I'm datalogging or Emulating for that matter and my R/T TP dashboard locks up or freezes..... Car stays running but I can't SEE what it's doing! Have to shut everything down and start from scratch again, including ignition.....
Am I wrong in thinking that this is caused by a faulty ALDL Cable????
It's only been used a handful of times and always well taken care of.....
It's the only thing that I can think of......
Please Help.... Suggestions .... Anything!
I was gonna order a new cable from Moates but buy the time it reaches me it'll be $100.oo So I'm gonna think it through first!!!!

Re: Bad ALDL Cable?
i actually just cut up my USB ALDL cable from aldlcable.com for this exact reason... it would only keep a connection if you put an EXACT amount of pressure pushing down at the USB plug.
i'm working on a low cost self-powered USB plug at the moment, may be done within the next two weeks or so, considering using the "ChiPi" Cable from FTDI and a 2 transistor circuit to get it done for maximum cheap.
