More than one Calpack for 1227747 ECM?

More than one Calpack for 1227747 ECM?
I am going to the salvage yard to pick up a spare 1227747 ECM that I can modify with a Moates G2 adapter and ZIF socket. I want to leave my existing (and running) 1227747/ASDU ECM unmolested. I'd like to be able to easily swap between the existing ECM and modified ECM in case I run into tuning problems. I want to ensure that the "limp home" mode will function properly with the modified ECM. I'm thinking that the calpack may vary based on the bin used in the eprom. Should I try to find a salvage 1227747 ECM with the ASDU bin or will any 1227747 (and associated Calpack) be acceptable?
FWIW - the salvage yard tells me that they have a 1227747 w/ABUM bin currently on the shelf but would have to check the yard for an ASDU bin. I can't find any info on the ABUM bin so I have no idea how closely it matches my L05/700R4 combo.

Re: More than one Calpack for 1227747 ECM?
The CALPAK varies between those used on V8's and those used on V6's. The V6 CALPAK generally running with a larger injector PW.
Once the TBI set up has been modified the CALPAK calibration goes out the window. Any change in injector flow rate and engine displacement that doesn't match the original ratio of the two, and the CALPAK calibration no longer matches.
Note that ABUM is for a 4.3l engine.
RBob.

Thanks RBob. I think I understand what you're saying - the CALPAKs are different but as my setup moves further away from stock, the CALPAK, whether for a V6 or V8, becomes less likely to get me home in the event of an ECM/PROM failure.
Since this is a TBI ECM I'm assuming that there is no cylinder select function contained in the CALPAK so I can run the 1227747/ABUM ECM (and associated CALPAK) as long as I run a BIN that is appropriate for my setup (like the ASDU).
P.S. I also want to say thanks to you for taking the time over the years to share your experience and knowledge with the members of this board. I've spent quite a few hours since I joined in August '09 reading posts from you, Fast355, Grumpy, Demented, etc, and can't even begin to guess how much time and frustration your efforts have saved me.
Thanks again!

Re: More than one Calpack for 1227747 ECM?
Correct, there isn't a cylinder select to worry about. Can use either a 6 or 8 cylinder CALPAK interchangeably. Although there should be one in place as it sets the alternating firing of the injectors. Without one they fire together on every other DRP, instead of alternating on each DRP. Or just tie pins 7 & 8 together on the socket.
You can solder resistors onto a stock CALPAK to tune it for larger (or smaller) injectors.
