HELP ID WHERE THE EPROM IS. Only one chip in the ECM
I have several questions but I will try to keep things narrowed for now. I opened up the ECM of ht 95 6.5L diesel, 4L80E, turbo. All the notes online show totally different ECMs for these. Anyway, when I opened the ECM, there was only one PROM chip in there with near identical markings as my 95 5.7 with ECM 16197427 which was part of the memcal and under the blue hood on the memcal.
Anyway, the chip I found in the 6.5 was 1 of 1 and I was looking for other PROMs like the calpak, etc. The chip numbers also do not align with any literature. ie, does not indicate 128, 256, 512, 2732, 27C512, etc.
The chip has a blue hood, and when pulled, the underside says BLUE. I have not got a clue but I cannot find a thing of info on this chip online.
Any clues what I am looking at? If this is not it, any ideas where it would be? seems an odd setup to me....

Just guessing, but I'd say you're looking at the wrong board.

LOL. I feel like a jack *** since posting. Reason is my first ECM inspection had a JET chip in it. They apparently do not totally remove the stock PROM, they supply a sub PCB that replaces the memcal and mounts it on it's back. The stock PROM is there but not in use. I see (2) PROMs, the PCM, and the calpac mounted. Then I look at the older one that would not have a PCM, the calpac is obviously somewhere else, ad the EPROM is right where it should be. I thought the chips were using mfg markings when infact, they are using GM markings. Had to cross the numbers over. DUHHH

There are many people here in this DIY PROM forum that do not, have never and never wish to own 3rd gen F-bodies, yet they have an interest in tuning thier GM ECM equipped vehicle(s), and so they come to the best source on the intarweebnetz for that information, DIY PROM forum on thirdgen.org. There are many people here that also provide information, yet again have never, still don't and never desire to own a 3rd gen.
We try to help anyone here that has interest in tuning thier GM ECM, not shun them away, you're new here, you'll get used to it.
Anyway, I don't have hands on experiance with the diesel ECM/PCMs, but I'd say you're looking at the correct part (EPROM) for finding the bin file. moates.net has an adaptor meant specifically for the diesel ECM/PCMs and has a picture of the stock MEMCAL. You might want to check that, and compare what you see to that.
